Trattoria Borgo d’Aneto is an Italian restaurant that will open its doors in 2009 at Nijverheidstraat 2 in Rotterdam. It has an Italian cuisine with traditional dishes and quality ingredients. It has a terrace on the banks of the Maas with a beautiful view at the skyline of Rotterdam.

Borgo d’Aneto will operate as a restaurant and serves as “leerbedrijf”. (training on the job)  Students will develop their entrepreneurial skills and are taught everything they need to know about the Italian ‘cucina’. International volunteers will also be active in the Trattoria.

Next to the restaurant a delicacy store will be opened which will sell both healthy and refined products as ingredients used in the dishes and menus of the Trattoria.

On July 10 Borgo d’Aneto will cater to a party organized by the residents of  Panorama Dillenburg, the housing complex in which Borgo d’Aneto is situated. After the summer, the Trattoria’s doors open to the public. From September the (international) students and young volunteers will start there training at Trattoria.

Because I live nearby, I will certainly pay the restaurant a couple of visists. I will let you know about my findings. For now I like to say how much I like the name: Borgo = village, Aneto = dill, so it would translate as Dill Village.

However the resemblance to the Dutch word Burg and Borgo is striking! All we need to to now is translate Aneto, or Dill, to Dutch. (Dille)  Right! I like playing with words.
