R.U.A. – Reflexo on Urban Art

One of the great things about living in Rotterdam is the Summer Festivals. Never a dull moment during the summer. This year, they managed to organise a festival with results that last longer than the end of the festival. During the R.U.A. Festival (Reflexo on Urban Art) from July to August, 9 Brazilian artists have cheered up Rotterdam by making legal graffitis on large empty walls.
Although I haven’t visited all the sites where they have been working, here’s some photos of the graffitis I did passed by.

I passed Horoiwa every day on my way to work. So I watched the graffiti grow into this beautiful wall painting. The work can be admired from a distance, but the details are worthwile too!

Not far from the grafitti by Horoiwa is one by Speto. It’s a completely different style, but also very interesting. It cheers up a wall next to an oldfashioned and very ugly and desolate parking area at the Delftsehof.

A more colourful mural can be found at the corner of Kruisplein and West Kruiskade. It is made by Onesto.

Just around the corner from Kruisplein is a mural by Onio which is really interesting. Here’s just a detail. Go see it yourself. It’s at the Mauritsplaats, next to where the Pauluskerk used to be.
